Yesterday I wrote article about what happened during Nitro World Games BMX Best Trick finals, when Dawid Godziek was called the winner and then moved to 7th place…because of „judges honest mistake”. After a few hours I got mail from Richard working for Nitro World Games and now Ride BMX posted their explanation video.
Let clear some facts for you and say what I expected!
First of all I think it’s good to tell people main rule used to judge riders:
„Each rider as they drop have to give the starter one of their pre determined tricks, which then when done, is given an execution score by the judges.”
That’s what I get in mail. Well, I think many of you didn’t know this just as I. Let’s move on:
„Dawid told the team he was going to do a 1080 Front Flip No Hander, so the judges scored his execution. On a small monitor screen with no replays they missed that he landed a 720 Front Flip No hander, which he had already landed. As such, only 1 of those tricks was counted.”
I get it. Almost totally. So basically Dawid was scored only for one clear run? Why? Maybe for both of them but the second one with way less points? That would be understandable!
Next question about which I thought was – what trick called out as „pre-determined” Ryan Williams? Cuz he tried three different tricks. So which one was the proper and for which one he gets the most points?
But you know what? This doesn’t really matter because we’re not talking about Ryan Williams win here!
We’re talking about other problem. Another line in email stated: „It was a mistake that was rectified on site before the podium was announced and the wrong result went out to the public.”
You’re totally wrong and did you just tried to make me feel like an idiot?
YES, YOU ANNOUNCED DAWID PUBLIC AS A WINNER! By giving him this „wrong” scores and SHOWING TO THE WHOLE STADIUM AND TV VIEWERS HIS FACE WITH CAPTION „WINNER”.
Do you get it now or should I say it again in other way?
You called officially Dawid Godziek as the winner of Nitro World Games BMX Best Trick and then kinda secretly checked the replays and changed standings while you been off the cameras and you „officially” posted new results to all social media.
Besides of money prize for the first place, this is just bad for Dawid and also for you.
AS MANY TIMES AS NITRO CIRCUS IS REPEATING WORDS ABOUT „MISTAKE” THEY SHOULD REPEAT SIMPLE „WE’RE SORRY THAT HAPPENED”. But seems like this won’t happen even once…
As I wrote yesterday in comment section of the first article, I’m not trying to say that Dawid was 100% winner – no, he wasn’t. I just want to show you how Nitro fucked up probably one of the best moments in life of this young and talented rider and now they trying everything to not say „sorry, forgive us this mistake!”.
By the way, you showed how much you don’t care about him by showing his wrong age for the whole weekend. Dawid isn’t 32 yo.
By the way I’m still waiting for reply for my email, but case is probably closed with the first one.
Here you can watch Ride BMX explanation video…made specially for those who really don’t see the difference between 720 frontflip and 1080 frontflip…so probably for Nitro World Games judges…Maybe get some proper ones and what’s more important – announce them publicly just as other big events does!
